Cambridge Malayalee Association

Cambridge Malayalee Association is a socio-cultural voluntary association. The main objective of CMA is to promote various social, artistic, cultural, sports and literary activities. Organising unique programmes with the essential touch of Indian heritage, be it in art, literature or other cultural fields. The strength of this organisation is not only in the number of members consisting of people from various walks of life - but also in the efforts being made in achieving the goals of the organisation. Its presence in Cambridge should especially be felt among its Malayali community. The activities of CMA include celebration of major festivals like Onam, Christmas & Easter, in the traditional way, replicating the enthusiasm seen in Kerala to create a nostalgic environment in the Cambridge City. Members and their children are encouraged to exhibit their talent in various fields such as dance, music, painting, etc. Moreover, we aim to provide opportunities for the presentation of sports & cultural programmes, and also look forward to give away awards annually for the best academic candidates in the CMA as an encouragement to the younger generation. We aim to bring all the members of our association in a similar background, culture, life styles & under one group, to create a sense of belongingness, self and mutual respect among each other through interaction, and to develop a pleasant environment conducive for our children to grow up with the community's rich traditions, culture and values in life. To promote economic and general welfare of its members and of their children, with the principles of the co-operative movement, i.e., voluntary, self- and mutual help without any discrimination as a helping hand on emergency situations. We aim for Malayalam Language learning, Bible Classes, Quiz competitions, Birthday Celebrations, dance, singing & instrumental musical classes. As an Indian organisation we encourage our children to be independent and self-sufficient by providing an environment to maximize the development of a child's personality and positively influence the child's attitudes and behaviours.

Cambridge Malayalee Association is an organization bringing together the Malayalees in Cambridge. Our aims and objectives are:

To look into the interests of the Malayalee community in the United Kingdom and uphold their cultural and artistic values.
To foster friendship with other communities, exchange and share ideas and beliefs with them and enhance quality of life.
To promote its indigenous cultural values.
To provide the community members with an opportunity to meet, discuss and promote Malayalam language and culture.
To extend a helping hand to any member who is in distress and if needed to raise money for charity. To work with other community members and similar associations elsewhere in the world.

To celebrate our cultural celebrations
To increase the social and communal harmony
To conduct competition for music and dances for children
To conduct lessons for Vocal music, instrument music and dance for children
To Develop our computer skills
To Conduct study tours and picnic
To Host our traditional entertainment programmes, drama , music, and comedy
