CMA Celebrates Onam 2011

The family members of the Cambridge Malayalee Association got together
to celebrate our traditional festival ONAM on the 2nd
September,2011at Arbury Community Hall, Cambridge. The celebrations
kicked off at 10:00am with fun sports which was well
participated by adults and children with enthusiasm. This was followed
by a procession into the main hall with chendamelam leading the
crowd followed by Puli Kali, Mahabali, Guests of Honour, Talapooli
girls, family members of the community. Mr Robin Antony, CMA Secretary
welcomed the guests , Mr Prince Jacob, CMA President addressed
the guests highlighting the activities of CMA and a plan for the
future activities and vote of thanks by Mr Georgey Abraham PRO CMA.
Our chief guests Dr C J Mathew, an eminent consultant, Mayor of
Cambridge Mr Nimmo, Parish Priest Fr Eugene Harkness, UKKMA
National Secretary Mr Abraham Lukose shared the dias. A prayer song,
the traditional Kaikhottikali , a welcome dance and natioanl anthem
was presented during the inagural function. Onasadya was served
after the inaugural function to the family members gathered for the
event , which was relished and well appreciated by guests.
A vaerity of cultural programmes followed the Onasadhya which included
a magic show by Magician Bino, Ganamela, classical and
semi classical dances, bollywood and tollywood dances.The evening
concluded at 6:00pm on a high note with the dancing numbers
from the ganamela troupe and the crowd of 400 people peacefully
disbursed with a mixture good feeling of a socialised
gathering , fun and entertainment
